How-To-Guide

Invite a Mix of People. Think about people you’ve always wanted to spend time with, but never had an occasion to meet. Invite new and old friends. Invite people who might have conflicting ideas about politics, life, and food to discuss these ideas and more. Grub Parties bring together diverse folks for delicious grub, good company and real conversation (and lots of wine).

How-to-Guide We met Rachel Cole the old-fashioned way: at a farmers market. She came up to us after one of our Berkeley farmers market talks and cooking demos with her own Grub book in hand. Turns out that she was inspired, like Bryant and I, to bring her own Grub-friendly values about food into fun social gatherings. In early 2006, when she heard about our book, she loved the word ‘Grub’ so much that she adopted it as the name for her like-minded parties which she’s been hosting ever since.

She shares with us some of her Grub party ideas, with a potluck twist. Read on for Rachel’s How-To-Get-Your-Grub-On Suggestions… and if you’re ever in Berkeley… look her up.
